There are many families in the Katy/West Houston area who cannot afford to buy school supplies for their children. With the help of area churches and business, KCM is able to provide these families with the needed items to begin the school year.
On the last day of the school year, KCM begins preparing for the 1st day school. Our volunteers cut out and send paper apples to area churches. These apples represent a grade level and the money needed for school supplies. Church members are encouraged to pick an apple and write a check for the amount and send it to KCM. The supplies are bagged and given out to the families who qualify.
In 2007 KCM distributed 540 bags of school supplies to KISD students.
